Dr. Clara Chow BSc, MSc, DDS, FRCD(C), Dip. ABO
Dr. Clara Chow enjoys the positive transformations of her patients’ bites to a healthier and more cleansable state that they want to smile about. She sees her young patients grow with more self-esteem and adult patients gather more self-confidence from their new smiles.

Dr. Chow grew up in Scarborough, Ontario. She represented Canada at the International Association of Dental Research meeting in Japan in 2001. After receiving her doctor of dental surgery degree from University of Toronto (2002), she completed residency at Hospital for Sick Children Toronto (HSC, 2003). At HSC, she was part of the multidisciplinary craniofacial team and treated young patients with dental trauma and complex issues. Her training took her to the United States where she worked at the University of Illinois at Chicago general practice residency program with emphasis on medically compromised patients.
She worked with many renowned orthodontists at University of Illinois at Chicago orthodontic specialty program (2007), such as Dr. Haas whom popularized expansion and dentofacial orthopedics to treat underbites. A significant portion of Dr. Chow’s training was devoted to advanced techniques including use of temporary anchorage devices, face driven diagnosis, orthognathic surgical planning, adult pre-prosthetic setup, lingual braces and clear aligner therapy. During this period, she also completed a master’s degree and presented her research and clinical cases at the American Association of Orthodontists’ annual meeting.
She is fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
When not at Markham Orthodontic Specialty practicing with her husband (a Canadian and American board certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon), she enjoys being with their two lovely active boys, bowling, biking and playing/watching basketball; Go Raptors Go.
Dr. Alyssa Cho
Orthodontist
Dr. Alyssa Cho completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at University of Western Ontario with multiple awards and honors. Her own positive experience with braces led her to pursue specialty training at University of Pittsburgh, where she graduated with a Certificate of Advanced Study and Master of Dental Science in Orthodontics. During her residency, she was actively involved in craniofacial research and was awarded the Mary J. Hauk Memorial Scholarship to present her research at the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association annual meeting. Dr. Cho strives to work together with her patients towards their picture-perfect smile. During her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family, baking, and travelling.

Chloe
Orthodontic Hygienist
Chloe completed her dental hygiene training at Oxford North Dental Hygiene School in Richmond Hill and has been a dental hygienist since 2009. She had spent 2 weeks on a volunteer dental missionary trip to Brazil in 2008 with health mission outreach (HMO) organization where she provided dental hygiene treatment to impoverished members of villages at port Diana. On her days off, she enjoys traveling, swimming, spending time with friends and family, and playing with her cat.
Bethany
Orthodontic Hygienist
Joining the MOS team in 2012, Bethany’s main goal as a dental hygienist is to ensure each patient experiences the best at each visit and are satisfied with their new smile. During her spare time, she enjoys jogging around the neighbourhood, caring for her two sons, and enjoying her daily coffee.
Akemi
Orthodontic Hygienist
Graduated from George Brown college dental hygiene program in 2009, Akemi joined Markham Orthodontic Specialty in 2013. She believes that the best part of working here is seeing the beautiful smiles on our patient’s faces when they see their final results! In her spare time, she like to do yoga, play with Billy her cat, and cook with her husband.
Josie
Orthodontic Hygienist
Josie graduated with a biology degree from the University of Waterloo and then completed her dental hygiene diploma at Georgian College. She has been an orthodontic hygienist since 2008 and joined the MOS team in 2014, she loves helping Dr. Chow create beautiful smiles. During the week, Josie is an orthodontic hygienist at Sick Kids (HSC) in the cleft lip and palate department. In her spare time, she likes trying new restaurants with her husband and hanging out with her sisters.

Orthodontic Assistant
Always ready to strike up a conversation, Sophie is an outgoing, and kind assistant helping in both the front and back ends of the office. On her free time, she enjoys watching dramas and travelling.
Amy
Orthodontic Assistant
Always ready to help, Amy is a charming personality that assists chair-side in orthodontic treatments. She enjoys staying fit and taking care of pets when she’s not travelling.
Matt
Orthodontic Assistant
One of the first few faces you’ll see at our office. Matt is a caring and hardworking assistant looking to enhance patients’ comfort, experience, and their oral hygiene. He is an avid supporter of our local sports teams.
Helen
Orthodontic Assistant
Helen is a lovely, kind assistant that is always there to help. Keeping our patients happy and ensuring a healthy smile with their brushing. She likes keeping busy, seeing her children and grandchildren grow up well.
Cathy
Orthodontic/Surgical Assistant
Constantly beaming, Cathy is a very experienced and knowledgeable dental assistant that helps the surgery side of operations. She enjoys her sweets and taking care of those around her when she has time.
Diana
Orthodontic/Surgical Assistant
Occasionally helping in orthodontics treatments, Diana is a friendly face that helps us on the surgical front of the office, in imaging and the procedures themselves. She always looks forward to warm beaches and crashing waves.

Angela
Receptionist
One of the first faces you’ll meet when you come to our office. Angela helps with ushering in our potential patients and organises your consultations and meetings with our doctors. She enjoys going karaoke and trying new places to eat.
Jacqueline
Receptionist
Jacqueline is one of the new additions to the MOS admin team. She’s very friendly and outgoing, willing to help you with any questions you might have with your appointments here. Jacqueline occasionally does dragon boat racing and running.
Carrie
Receptionist
Always ready to check in with you, Carrie is a very attentive admin staff member. She is always looking to help and follow up with our patients after treatment. On her free time, she enjoys watching dramas with her kids and taking care of her pets.
Winnie
Receptionist
Happy to help as always, Winnie assists in the office with more of the administrative affairs. On other days, she’s busy with taking care of her grandchildren and pets.

Recently joining MOS, Karen helps with managing your appointments and bookings, aids us with collaborating with your dentists. She is an avid hiker and snowboarder.
