Here are some examples of foods to avoid and the reasons they pose problems:

  • Chewing gum sticks to braces and wires and can be very difficult to remove completely.
  • Even some healthier foods, such as raw carrots or whole apples, can be risky if not prepared properly. That’s why we recommend slicing these foods into thin pieces or cooking them until they’re soft.
